The club and the clock

A club comes up, crest and all. You get 45 seconds to name as many people as you can who have been through it. No clues, no list to tick: the names come out of your head. The round runs its full clock even once you have emptied the squad, because your opponent is still digging.

Scoring a name

You type, you pick from the list. Every right name is worth at least one point. A name you have already given this round is simply ignored: it pays nothing and it breaks nothing. In a duel both players can name the same person, and each of them scores it.

The combo

Two right names in a row light the badge, and it is the third one that pays double. From the sixth in a row it pays triple, and that is the ceiling. A refused name puts the run back to zero. In practice it rewards dumping the names you are sure of first and trying the shaky ones after.

Three rounds, then overtime

Three clubs, three rounds, and the best total takes the duel. If the scores are level, an overtime round is added: a fresh club and 30 seconds instead of 45. Three overtimes without either player pulling ahead and the duel is called a draw.

Who counts as having played for the club

Did this person actually play for this club? If they did, they count, whatever the circumstances of the spell were. Head coaches count too, because the public can name them; the rest of the staff does not. A club is only dealt if it holds at least eight valid names, or the round would run dry before the clock did.

The game modes

Ranked puts you against someone who knows as much as you do, and your rank decides how deep the draw goes: your first five games place you, then you carry one, from Bronze up to Champion. To play a friend, open the game and pass them the link. Solo is three clubs and nobody opposite.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a round?

45 seconds, and 30 in overtime, shorter because all it has to do is separate two players who are already tied. That is 45 seconds of actual play: between rounds the club announcement holds the screen for four seconds, and the clock only starts after it.

What is a combo worth?

Two names in a row light the badge. The third and every one after it is worth 2 points, and from the sixth it is 3. The ceiling is deliberate: without it a single mistake would decide the match. A run of six is worth eleven points, against six with no combo.

Do stand-ins count?

Yes: a loan, a trial, a stand-in, the person played. What does not count is never having played: assistant, analyst, manager. And when a spell carries a label the game cannot classify yet, it leaves it out rather than guess. So a name you are sure of can still be refused: a hole in the data, worth reporting.

How far back does the roster history go?

As far back as Liquipedia documents it, with no cut-off date: a 1.6 player is still a valid answer on a club from that era. Only clubs that have played an S-Tier tournament are in the draw, and the level sets how deep it goes: a couple dozen of the best known at level 1, and several times that at level 5.
